It’s been a while since we have done a weekly mailout so our contact has been a bit sporadic, sorry about that.

Visual Response #6 Native is in full swing and we are just writing to let everyone know that we have extended the deadline by a week (Due Date: 14th Of May). There is $9k worth of prizes up for grabs which has all been donated from our sponsors. Without them none of this would be possible and we are very thankful of their support.

If you have been involved in the past you will notice that this time we have changed things a little. The number of winners has dropped to 10 but we have increasing the print size to A1.

We will be holding an exhibition to show the winners on Thursday the 17th of May at Lofi in Surry Hills and even if you don’t submit a piece we would love to see you come along and share in the festivities with us.

We would love all of you to get involved and make this the best VR to date.

A border crossing collaboration between two mates from two states,
‘States of mind’ brings together the mindsets and styles of two artist’s work
generated through years of street art and graffiti collaboration from Brisbane to Sydney. This exhibition will feature the varied spectrum of their work from live video projection to works on canvas, presenting the emergence of the artist’s as an up and coming fixture in the current lowbrow scene.

Lo-Fi Collective & China Heights are proud to present ‘Bode in Oz’- The Cartoon Concert, a live performance/show by accomplished graffiti artist, tattooist, illustrator and writer – Mark Bode.

For two generations Mark and his father Vaughn Bode have forged an artistic legacy that has had a profound effect on graffiti, street art and underground comics.

In the mid seventies, the iconoclastic Vaughn Bode’s comic book characters, particularly Cheech Wizard resonated so closely with the revolutionary spirit of pioneering graffiti artist that these characters were adopted as the mascots of the movement, becoming the first used in graffiti.

In recent years Mark Bode has stretched the horizons of the Bode universe beyond imagination, creating several cult classic comics, perhaps the best known being Colbalt 60, which is currently slated by Zach Snieder for a live action film.

Bode is also something of a nexus for the world street art and graffiti art scene, the heir to the first graffiti characters, a genuinely positive visionary and a backbone of the community he has painted murals around the globe with an extended family consisting of the most respected graffiti and street artists.

Along side the ‘Cartoon Concert’ performance, Mark Bode be showcasing and exhibition of his illustrations & paintings at the China Heights gallery – 24th Feb 6-9pm.
